Denise Grandgenett was born and raised in Algona, IA. She was a 1990 graduate of Bishop Garrigan High School. Denise went to College in Santa Monica, California, where she studied at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). After completing her degree as a Certified Jeweler/Gemologist, she returned to the Midwest and worked for seven years in Mankato, Minnesota as a jeweler. Denise returned to Algona in 1997 and two years later bought Merle Norman Cosmetics. At that time, the business was located on the corner of State and Dodge streets. She moved to the current location on the corner of Call Street and Hwy. 169 in 2003 after expanding the jewelry end of the business. Denise and her husband Bill live northeast of Algona with their three children.
Katie Miller was born and raised in Algona, IA. She was a 2011 graduate of Bishop Garrigan High School. Katie is also a 2015 graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Marketing. Katie went on to Carlsbad, CA where she studied at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as a certified Jewelry/Gemologist. Katie has since returned to her home town and is a fantastic addition to Grandgenett Jewelry.
